Cooling-only air conditioning isn't grant-funded in the UK — but heat pumps, which heat and (in some cases) cool your home, often are. Here's what's available in 2026, in plain English.
Can I get a grant for air conditioning?
Not for cooling-only units. The one exception is the new £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps (which can cool as well as heat). It became law in April 2026, but as of mid-2026 it isn't yet practically claimable — the certification needed by installers is still being finalised. We'll update this page the moment it goes live.
